Who Am I And Why Should You Listen To My Insanity Review?
My name is John Sherman. I’m a middle aged man who had a butt ton of weight to lose. I was someone you wouldn’t necessarily picture doing the Insanity workout. I was in ZERO shape when I started and was taking a chance that I could even keep it up. I saw the infomercial on TV and was skeptical at first. But dang the commercial was good. I decided to BUY IT on the payment plan that Beachbody offers. The payment plan was super simple and allowed me to try it, see if I liked it and return it wasn’t for me. It’s only 3 payments of $39.95 plus shipping. Way less than a gym membership that never gets used. Needless to say, it delivered on its promises. The fat started to melt away but I’ll get to more of that later in this review.
Who Is Shaun T?
Shaun T is the instructor and fitness trainer who guides you through all of the exercises on the DVD. Other than his extremely sculpted physique he seems like one heck of a guy. In the videos he comes across like someone you can hang out with and have a beer. Not only that but he is highly effective at motivating you without even being in the room with you.
This guy is the real deal. He has been in the fitness world since he was in college. He is the perfect instructor for this DVD program because he gives you just the right amount of motivation, just the right amount of explaining, and a true demonstration of fitness right in front of your eyes.
What Can I Expect From The Insanity Workout? You’ll Need To Dig Deep!
The Insanity Workout is probably the hardest and most difficult workout DVD I’ve ever seen. Why, because the pace it keeps is fast and rigorous. It’s actually meant to be that way so anyone at any level of fitness can use this program and see results.
The actual plan calls for working out from 30 to 60 minutes six days a week in the first month. If you’re more overweight or borderline obese you might consider doing what you can, even if it’s 20 to 40 minutes of working out 3 times a week. It’s my experience that as long as you get moving and you follow along with the DVDs as much as you can, you will see results.
This program is designed to melt fat and build muscle. In 60 days you can transform your body into a fat incinerating machine. You’ll be burning between 400 and 900 calories per workout depending on how “all out” you go. There is no doubt in my mind that anyone who does this program and even puts in half an effort will see results. Sweat will be pouring out of you by the time you finish the warm up. I promise.
Do I Need To Buy Anything Besides The Insanity Program?
Heck no. You don’t need anything but the DVD set, a towel, and some water to keep yourself well hydrated. This program has been built with one of the best forms of exercise for incinerating fat. It’s called High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) for short. And it’s proven to reduce fat, increase aerobic fitness, and reduce risk of cardiometabolic disease.
Shaun T and his team put this program together so you and I would spend the majority of your time at maximum training with minimal downtime. In a nutshell you will be doing intense bursts of physical activity followed by short rest periods where you catch your breath and grab a drink of water.
The effectiveness of Insanity is out of this world. But when you try it you’ll see clearly why they have so many people who got positive results. And like I said before… no one finishes these exercises, not even the people in the video. So there is nothing wrong with stopping some and catching your breath. The ideas is to make improvements. For me, I started out only doing half of the exercises in a DVD but the pounds melted off at a rate of about 3 to 4lbs a week. I can’t say you’ll get the same results but if you’re anywhere close to where I was, you should see improvement.
What Can I Expect In Month 1 Of Insanity?
One thing is sure. You can expect to sweat. Plan on doing a combination of the following 5 workouts…
- The Fit Test
- Plyometric Cardio Circuit
- Cardio Power and Resistance
- Cardio Recovery
- Pure Cardio
These are intense workouts that will have you standing in a pool of your own bodily fluids when you’re done. They’re not easy by any means but will definitely kick start your metabolism into a fat burning furnace and improve your cardiovascular health.
Just to give you an idea. By the time I finished my first month of Insanity I was able to complete my first 5k run/walk, EVER. I never thought I would ever do a 5k. That’s not bad for a complete newbie fat guy that doesn’t like to run.
No matter what you can expect to work your tale off. Some exercises will be too difficult. You may not be able to do the full three minutes during each max interval. You may have to stop and rest. It’s all ok. The program is designed to get you to do your best and that’s it. You truly can’t compare yourself to anyone but your own level of fitness. And you’ll go from there. It’s as if it’s tailor made for you.
Between the first month and the next you will have a recovery week that is less intense. It’s a nice break that allows your body to grow, relax, and rejuvenate. You’ll be glad it’s there. Believe me.
What Can I Expect In Month 2 Of Insanity?
More mind blowing exercises that cause your body to melt fat, sweat like a stuck pig, and jack your fitness level up a notch or two. In the second month you can expect to vary between the following 4 workouts…

If you thought the first month was hard you’ll be blown away by the intensity of the month two. But it’s a good kind of intensity. I was a little scared to tell you the truth. But once I got started and could see the number on the scale shrinking while my chest and arms expanded with muscle all it did was keep me motivated. I’m sure you’ll notice the same thing. One of the best parts about the Insanity Workout is that Shaun T switches up the routine. You never get bored. You’re always mixing it up and shocking your body into a turbo charged fat burning machine. I’ve never come across a more effective program.
What Else Can You Tell Me About The Insanity Workout?
Check out this three minute commercial. It gives you a taste of the exercises you can expect to be doing. Many Insanity workout reviews say you need to be an athlete to do this program. I say bull hockey. You will have an opportunity to modify the exercises, rest when you need to, and stop when you say. You are in total control of how hard you push yourself.
